Write a Song in the Park – A Community Songwriting Workshop with Keeth Apgar

In this unique and inclusive workshop, everyone is a songwriter.

Led by professional musician and teaching artist Keeth Apgar, this is a drop-in creative writing and music-making session where we’ll build an original song from scratch — using your ideas, your words, and your creativity.

Along the way, we’ll explore the elements of songwriting: rhythm, melody, harmony, and the magic of lyric writing. We’ll play with sounds and images, discuss what to do when you feel stuck, and talk about how to actually finish a song.

No musical background is needed — just a willingness to jump in and have fun.

This is folk art at its core — blending storytelling with music, and welcoming all voices to the circle. We’ll wrap up the workshop with a live recording of the song we write together.
