What is The Harmonica Pocket?

Silly and sweet, The Harmonica Pocket is a young at heart duo from Port Townsend, Washington.

When The Harmonica Pocket takes the stage audiences are taken on a musical adventure filled with song, dance and even a bit of theatrics. Their highly-interactive shows get kids and grown-ups of all ages laughing, singing and moving in their seats.

The Harmonica Pocket presents dynamic performances incorporating unexpected props, acoustic instruments, hula hoops and spinning flags. Shows are sprinkled with wah-wah guitar, ukuleles, sweet vocal harmony, a looping pedal, percussion and of course harmonicas. If you're lucky they'll whip out their "Hinklehorns" – invented instruments which are part kazoo, part plumbing fixtures!

Audiences are invited to become a tree on a windy day, flex creative writing skills by dreaming up lyrics to original songs, and make hilarious sounds as they toss around an imaginary "Ball of Nothing."Child's drawing of a sun

Select themed shows include “Get Loose with Dr. Seuss,” “Singing Thanksgiving,” and the early literacty program "U is for Ukulele." A more complete list of shows are listed on Page 2 of this EPK.

The Harmonica Pocket also offers Songwriting, Hula Hoop, Movement, and Music Theory workshops.

The Harmonica Pocket is a part of the growing Kindie Rock music scene, but makes music that truly appeals to all ages. Their current release Sundrops was awarded the coveted Parents' Choice Gold Award as well as a NAPPA Bronze Medal. Sundrops was called "An acoustic treat" and described as "A beautiful fresh breath of sun-shiny filled air."

Prior releases Apple Apple and Ladybug One received critical acclaim including a pair of Parents' Choice Awards. Their music is recorded in an off-grid studio powered by solar electricity.

The Harmonica Pocket has performed for busloads of children and grownups in theaters, classrooms, libraries, clubs, and festivals nationally and internationally.

Put on a funny hat, come to a show and find out what everybody is smiling about.

Acoustic duo technical needs

Below is a checklist of what we need you to provide if we are using your sound system. It may be helpful to look at our Acoustic Stageplot Diagram while reviewing this list.

We travel with 2 wireless vocal microphone systems. Each channel terminates with a balanced line out which will feed into the house sound system. (Translation: your soundman runs two mic chords from our gear into his mixing board.)
